My Story

After having Jesus as part of my life growing up, we gradually drifted apart as I reached my teenage years and early adult life. Despite all my ‘success’ in life, I still had this nagging sense of loneliness and lack of fulfillment, and felt there was something missing in my life. Because life is busy, and because it was easier to just ignore this feeling, that’s what I did—nothing.

It wasn’t until some bad decisions left me in a new city and separated from my long-term partner that I realized how isolated, lonely, and depressed I had become. It was then that I reached out again to Jesus and welcomed Him back into my life.

Since then, my life has turned around, and I am living in peace and fulfillment, with God by my side.

And it all started from a single prayer.

A single prayer, when I was in my darkest moment, was all it took to get me back on the correct path again. A single flicker of light in a dark abyss, which slowly grew, day by day, prayer by prayer, into a giant flame, illuminating my life. Suddenly, I realized I was no longer in an abyss, but in a bright and joyous world, full of life and happiness.

Although a prayer can be deeply personal, they also need to be shared, and we need to pray together. When I needed prayer back in my life, I found it difficult to figure out what I needed to pray for. And I had difficulty finding the right prayer.

That’s why I have started Spirit and Prayer: to be a community and resource where, if you need a prayer and inspiration, you will be able to find one here, whether you are an individual, clergy, or any other organization.

Because it only takes one prayer to change a life.

My Goals

Spirit and Prayer seeks to encourage individuals to discover and embrace their divine purpose through deepening their relationship with God.

By offering resources such as prayers, Bible teachings, and spiritual reflections, our mission is to support individuals in overcoming challenges and achieving spiritual growth.

We aim to empower individuals, families and communities by fostering stronger, faith-based connections, helping people to navigate life’s journey with strength, hope, and purpose.

Through a commitment to daily prayer and spiritual reflection, Spirit and Prayer is dedicated to guiding believers toward living a life that is aligned with God’s will, positively impacting the world around them.

My Values

The Bible

The Bible is divinely inspired, not a product of human will, and is the authoritative word of God, offering guidance for Christian faith and practice.

"Knowing this first of all, that no prophecy of Scripture comes from someone's own interpretation. For no prophecy was ever produced by the will of man, but men spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit." (2 Peter 1:20-21)

Trinity

There is one God who exists eternally as three distinct persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.

"May the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all." (2 Corinthians 13:14 )

Jesus Christ

Faith in Jesus Christ is the only means of salvation and redemption

"Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved." (Acts 4:12)

Eternal Life

Eternal life in heaven is God’s promise and reward to all who place their faith in Jesus Christ. This eternal life is not earned by human effort but is a gracious gift offered freely to those who trust in Christ.

"God has given us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. Whoever has the Son has life; whoever does not have the Son of God does not have life." (1 John 5:11-12)

Salvation

Salvation is an act of mercy and can only be achieved through faith. We can never make up for our sin by self-improvement or good works.

"And be found in him, not having a righteousness of my own that comes from the law, but that which is through faith in Christ—the righteousness that comes from God on the basis of faith." (Philippians 3:9)

John is married to Pamela and is a proud father of two boys, Stuart and David, and has an overly friendly labrador called Layla. Building relationships is a core value with John as God cares for people through people, and believes teachings of the bible are the way to significant change. John is currently a teacher and enjoys sports, growing vegetables and grilling. His favourite bible verse is “We love because he first loved us” (1 John 4:19).
